Philemon Opong Sika, popularly known as P.O. Sika, was born in Accra, Ghana, in 1966.
Sika did his classical training at Ghanatta College of Art in Accra and graduated in Art Education in 1985. Sika taught art while at the same time managing his private studio. He is now however a full time artist. He is inspired by the traditional, cultural and social life of the Africans and combines realism and abstraction effectively. His choice of medium ranges from oils, acrylics, watercolours to ink drawings.
He won the National Award Price for the 12th World festival of Youth and Students Art Contest in 1985 in Ghana and participated in the festival in Moscow, Russia. He had several exhibitions locally and abroad. The Ghana National Museum has his work "Sankofa Calling" among its collection.
