David Mzuguno, a self-taught painter, was born on December 13th, 1951 in the Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania. After completing Primary school in 1967 and Secondary school in 1972, Mzuguno earned his living as a mining prospector from 1973 to 1980, during that time he kept painting and trying sales of his paintings at different hotels. From 1979 to 1995 he joined the Tingatinga artist group with the purpose of acquiring painting skills; he soon developed a creative style distinct from the traditional Tinga Tinga style. Works of David Mzuguno have been exhibited in Denmark, Japan, Germany, USA, France and Australia and at the National Museum of Dar es Salaam. Mzugono continues his work from home in Kibaha, Tanzania
