Daudi Tingatinga is the only son of the most known Tanzanian painter Edward Saidi Tingatinga. The word Tingatinga is used also as a term for the whole art movement. But the life of Daudi was not easy. His father died when he was a baby leaving behind his wife and two children. (the other child is Daudi´s sister Martina). He was living in poverty and his mother Agatha have had not enough money for food, not to speak about education. It was sheer chance that Mzee Lumumba showed to Daudi how to paint because without him the only son of Tingatinga wouldn´t know how to paint.
